“The minds of all hnau are the same.”

A couple of years ago I blogged about John Scalzi’s sci-fi novel Old Man’s War. Since then I’ve read most of the stories set in that universe, most recently The Human Division. Like the aliens in C. S. Lewis’s space trilogy, most of Scalzi’s aliens think and act like humans. They’re not really alien in the sense that humans can’t understand them; all it takes is an electronic translator and they communicate nearly perfectly. They even have the same sense of humor as humans do–that is to say as Scalzi does.

Which raises a question: Are all rational souls the same?
